Reversed tarot cards are cards that are pulled upside down.
Imagine a painting on a wall in a museum, say the Mona Lisa. Now turn it upside down so that the top of her head is pointing towards the floor. You’ve just successfully reversed Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece!
Okay, let’s mentally right side her back up. It is a masterpiece after all. Whew! Good work!
The Meaning of Reversed Tarot Cards
Read the meaning of the upright card and recognize that something is blocking or resisting this action or element of your life from taking place.
Is That It?
I could list a number of other common interpretations for reversed tarot cards, but I’m not going to.
What I advise you to do is look at the card that was pulled and listen to what the card is telling you about why it showed up reversed.
If the blocking interpretation above doesn’t resonate with you, that’s not a bad thing!
Determine for yourself what does feel right. Let your intuition (often referred to as your gut sense) lead the way.
Sometimes it can be helpful to write out what the card is telling you instead of thinking about it in your head. Then read back what you wrote and do another gut-check.
